Trainee Integrative Children & Young Person Counsellor (BACP Member)

Leah is a Trainee Integrative Children and Young Person Counsellor. Currently studying her MSc at the University of Northampton (2022-2024), she specialises in Systemic, Person-centred, Cognitive Behavioural and Creative therapeutic approaches. Leah is also an active researcher with a keen interest in children and young people’s experiences of academic pressure; and their emotional comprehension and regulation strategies within and external to the therapeutic space.

 

Leah has worked in various positions supporting children and young people across their development, including roles as an Early Years Practitioner, Dance Teaching Assistant, Playworker and Nurture Support Assistant. Leah is passionate about supporting individuals with their current and past difficulties through a friendly, non-judgemental, inclusive and creative approach.

Leah has achieved:

  • BSc (Hons) 1st Class Degree in Psychology (Counselling) (BPS Accredited) [2019-2022]
  • 7 years’ experience working with children and young people [2016-Present]
  • Ongoing Professional Development, including – Safeguarding, Trauma, Neurodiversity, Anxiety and Depression

Leah undertakes regular supervision and professional development in line with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy ethical framework, holds a current enhanced DBS and is a Student Member of the BACP.  Leah practices as a trainee from the Sunrise Wellbeing Therapy Centre where she provides 1:1 counselling to children and young people (aged 5-24).
