Understanding & supporting loss & bereavement

11 February 2023 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

£27.80

Workshop for parents/carers & practitioners – focusing on the emotions connected to loss, providing supportive strategies & activities

This workshop is brought to you by Shelley Smith, Founder of Sunrise Wellbeing and Integrative Psychotherapist (MBACP), working with children, young people & adults.

Shelley has supported many families and practitioners over her career and one of the areas she is passionate about normalising and supporting is loss and bereavement, as this can be a sensitive and difficult thing to talk about for many.

We will all experience bereavement in our lifetimes and we will all experience loss and grief.

There is misconception about the term “bereavement” which we can interpret as only being as a result of death of a person.

As well as the most devastating form of loss being the death of a close relationship, we can grieve the loss of:

Trust, Friendship, Job, School, Routine, Pets, Relationship…. the list goes on.

Within our therapeutic support we have seen a vast increase in the amount of people who are experiencing big, difficult feelings connected to loss but also to the pandemic and the ripple effect that this has brought.

This 1.5 hour online workshop will support parents/carers and practitioners to understand the underlying theories and emotions connected to grief and loss but will also provide creative ways in which you can support someone in your care, through modelling a healthy process of grieving.

The information and resource ideas you will take from this workshop will equip you to build your own emotional supportive toolkit to normalise and support grief within all areas.

All slides and resource information will be provided to attendees with the option of ongoing support if needed.
