Occupational Therapist (BAOT member)
Marjolein is an occupational therapist who specialises in mental health. She is passionate about supporting people with everyday strategies to support anxiety, low mood, lack of motivation and self-acceptance. She uses a collaborative, relationship-focused approach considering roles and routines, life balance and environment and their effect on your wellbeing and mental health. She will help you set goals and work together towards reaching them in a way that is most suited to you.
Marjolein has 15 years’ experience working with children and young people in a variety of settings including 1:1 support as well as working with groups in the community and schools. She also has experience of working in palliative care supporting people through major life events and bereavement. She currently splits her time between working with clients 1:1 as well as writing and delivering workshops and courses in local schools.
Always keen to develop her practice further, Marjolein is undertaking Solution Focused therapy training which she uses in her 1:1 sessions. She has also completed and delivered training in mindfulness, reminiscence, leadership and communication. Marjolein is a Practice Educator supporting students training to become Occupational Therapists. Marjolein loves reading so will usually have a book on the go about her area of interest.
Marjolein has achieved:
- First class BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy
- Mental Health First Aider
- Solution Focused practice Level 1
Marjolein undertakes regular supervision and professional development in line with the British Association of Occupational Therapists’ ethical framework, holds a current enhanced DBS and is an individual member of RCOT. Marjolein practices from the Sunrise Wellbeing Therapy Centre as well as Wellbeing Therapy Solutions.
