Child & Young Person Counsellor

Kara is a specialist Child and Young Person counsellor; she has completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People at the University of Northampton and can work with children and young people up to the age of twenty-four.

Kara works in an integrative way, informed by systemic theory and using person centred, creative and cognitive behavioural methods. She tailors her practice to each client to ensure that she meets their individual needs.

Kara has experience of working with a variety of issues such as: anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and self-harm. Kara has worked as a childminder and  in schools with primary & secondary aged children, with children with special needs, such as; Down Syndrome, Autism and ADHD. 

Kara has regular supervision in line with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy ethical framework, holds up to date insurance and is a member of the BACP. Kara practices from the Sunrise Wellbeing Therapy Centre in Anstey.

Kara has attained:

  • A Post-Graduate Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People
  • Continuing professional development in suicide and self-harm and shame
  • A BA (Hons) in Child and Youth Studies
  • A HND in Children’s Care and Development
